Benefit Administrator - Burlington (21138)

Job Purpose or Scope:

  • To ensure the timely and accurate processing of all matters relating to Health & Welfare Benefit coverage.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Input changes to benefit status and ensure eligibility under the plans
  • Provide external support to locations in all aspects of Benefit Administration.
  • Maintain personnel files related to Benefits.
  • Administer and complete all required reports and documentation for external carriers.
  • Provide support for Benefit System users.
  • Responsible for periodic benefit audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end reporting (taxable benefits) with respect to T4's, Releve 1"s etc.
  • Reconciliation of internal general ledger accounts as they relate to benefits.
  • Reconciliation of deduction for external agencies including benefit carriers
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Communication of and adherence to Injury Prevention (IP) standards.

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

  • High School Graduation diploma, some post secondary preferred. Courses in accounting and payroll (CPA) in addition to benefit administration would be an asset.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of two years experience with benefit administration in a large company. Excellent communications, customer service and organizational skills a must. Strong computer skills essential - Word, Excel and Outlook. Above average typing and data entry skills. Self motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ceridian/ADP Payroll system experience a definite asset. PeopleSoft experience preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Office environment. Minimal travel involved.

  • Approximately 1,300 employees eligible for Benefit coverage in the Canadian region.
