Injury Claims Coordinator (21919)

 

PURPOSE: 

Provide Assistance, training and guidance to depot managers in workers’ compensation claims management from correct reporting of injuries, implementation of early and safe return to work (ESRTW) to conclusion.  This position will require some travel to the Lower Mainland of B.C.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review all forms filed by depots including Initial Report of Injury for content/ completeness
  • Work with depot manager, injured worker, treating practitioner and Board in cases of lost time to obtain capability and limitation information to initiate ESRTW
  • Regular follow-up with all parties re progress of rehabilitation
  • Liaison between WCB board, and First Canada branch management relating to specific claims and workers’ compensation policy
  • Pursue transfer of cost and second injury cost relief when possible/ appropriate
  • File claim decision appeals on behalf of First Canada when appropriate
  • Prepare for and represent First Canada at Board appeals and mediations
  • Provide monthly statistics, quarterly claim and financial status report to First Canada Claims Manager
  • Strategize with First Canada Claims Manager and Safety Department to effectively create ways to control work comp losses
  • Attend Regional Area meetings to discuss work comp issues, injury prevention and claims handling
  • Assist managers in obtaining Clearance Certificates from various boards
  • Communication of and adherence to Injury Prevention (IP) standards
  • Establishes a database and tracks safety stats

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Post secondary education in related field of study
  • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) and/or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) designation preferred


EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum 3 years related experience
  • Experience with WCB claims management, disability management programs
  • Self starter; proactive and problem solving skills
  • Analytical/critical thinking skills

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:   

  •  Office environment with some travel to various depots in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland of BC
